Hours

The Providence College Archives and Special Collections staff are available Monday through Thursday, 8:30am – 5:30pm and Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm.

While access to most of our collections requires appointments or advance notice, our staff are available to discuss your research needs!  

Fogarty Reading Room Hours: 

Appointments available: Monday-Thursday, 9am-5pm; Friday, 9am-4pm.

Drop-in hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30am-12:30pm and 2pm-5pm.

Location: Phillips Memorial Library, 2nd floor.

Please note that not all collection materials are available during drop-in hours. Many College publications, such as yearbooks, student newspapers, etc., are available during those times and we will do our best to accommodate additional requests.

Our staff can point you towards useful collections, digital content available online, and book your research appointment. To best accommodate your research needs, please allow at least 24 hours advance notice. 

Reading Room Guidelines

Visitors to the PC Archives & Special Collections should expect to follow certain rules for the care and security of our collections.  

  • Researchers may bring these items into the research area: Notepad and pencils, laptop, tablet, phone, camera.
  • Please note the following items are not permitted: Food, drink, pens, bags, purses, jackets.
  • We have space to store personal belongings that are not permitted in the research area.
  • Please review our full reading room guidelines.

Our staff will provide guidance on handling materials and is there to answer any questions you may have.
