All matriculating students at Providence College are eligible to borrow from Phillips Memorial Library. Students should present their PC ID at the circulation desk when borrowing items. Students without PC IDs should bring a photo ID and proof of admission.

All students can check out a maximum of 50 books at a time. The loan period is one month, with two renewals for Phillips Memorial Library books. Students are also allowed to borrow from all current HELIN institutions and can place interlibrary loan requests for books outside of the HELIN network.

Students with current PC IDs, with accounts in good standing at Phillips Memorial Library, have access and borrowing privileges at any HELIN library.

Overdue and Billed Materials

There are no fines for overdue materials borrowed from Phillips Memorial Library.

After 30 days, overdue materials become billed materials. Patrons are billed $50 for items not returned. For graduating seniors, the library forwards all bills to the bursar’s office at the end of each semester. Students will need to return the materials before they can gain access to their transcripts.

Charges for HELIN or interlibrary loan items may be transferred to your Phillips Memorial Library and/or bursar account.

All faculty, Faculty Emeriti, clergy, and staff at Providence College are eligible to borrow from the Phillips Memorial Library. Before borrowing from the library, all faculty need to create a library account at the circulation desk and will need to present a valid PC ID or other form of identification. Faculty without PC IDs should visit the circulation desk during normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm) so staff can check faculty status with their department. Faculty are eligible to borrow books, DVDs, all our loanable technology, and available software.

Faculty and staff may borrow up to 100 books at a time for 4 months (a semester). All Phillips Memorial Library books can be renewed (unless recalled). Library staff can request renewals for books from HELIN schools or books obtained via interlibrary loan, but renewals are determined by the lending library and cannot be guaranteed.

PC ID holders may borrow materials directly from other HELIN libraries. Faculty and staff with current PC IDs, with accounts in good standing at Phillips Memorial Library, have access and borrowing privileges at any HELIN library.
