Staff Spotlight: Caroline

What is your day to day like?

As the library Media Support and Outreach Coordinator, my day to day can be varied. If the Digital Projects & Metadata team is participating in class instruction, that is the focus of the day with preparation and post session feedback. Otherwise my days are spent meeting with other library staff, designing signage or social media content, helping with technology needs, and working digital projects.

What is your favorite library activity?

My favorite library activity is the button maker. You can use premade or design your own graphics and make buttons/magnets/keychains for you and your friends!

What is your favorite part of working at the library?

My favorite part of working at the library these past five years is being able to work with students on new skills. Seeing the products that come out of class assignments or passion projects that I am able to help with is the best!

What is your favorite study space?

I think the best study space in the library is the Treehouse! The space is welcoming and accessible to all.

A fun fact about me is I play in a weekly Dungeons and Dragons campaign as a multi-class Ranger Druid!

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy listening to alt/indie music and crafting/working on house projects. Currently, I am working on framing all of the art prints I have purchased and yet to put up in my house.

Who is your favorite writer?

My favorite writer currently is Berklie Novak-Stolz. Their poetry collection Lazarus Rises (amongst other things) focuses on love, grief, and perseverance that has brought solace to me many times. Her slogan is “create meaningful chaos” which is something I think we could all use.

What is something most students don’t know about the library?

Most students don’t know just how awesome and skilled the library staff are. We all come from different academic backgrounds and have a host of untapped skills that we would love to share with the PC community!
