Staff Spotlight: Heather

What is your day to day like?
I teach students about the research process and make sure that they have reliable access to all the research tools and databases we have.
What is your favorite library activity?
Puzzles are always a good break from staring at a computer screen.

What is your favorite part of working at the library?
When I work with a student and they find exactly what they need and they understand how to be more independent researchers.
I love to meet students and learn about you and your interests. Working with students here at Providence College keeps me informed and aware of things I should know more about.
What is your favorite study space?
If I had to study, I would use the quiet section in the back corners downstairs or upstairs.
What do you do for fun?
Recently I have started to row crew with a local club. Some people may not think getting up early to get in a boat to row is enjoyable, but the seeing the sun rise always makes it worth it.

Who is your favorite writer?
I don’t have a favorite writer, but I am enjoying Iona Wishaw, Jacqueline Winspear, Charles Todd, Rosamunde Pilcher, and re-reading some Agatha Christie at the moment. These are all winter cozy reads for me.
I majored in Russian in college, and spent my junior year abroad in St. Petersburg just after the Berlin Wall came down.

What is something most students don’t know about the library?
They can find things to watch and read that are considered popular or not scholarly. We have a popular literature section and access to movies.
