The Alembic 2026: Celebrating 105 years of Providence College’s literary journal
The 2026 edition of The Alembic is officially here, marking 105 years of literary and artistic expression at Providence College. To celebrate this milestone, The Alembic, along with the Department of English, and the Phillips Memorial Library hosted a special launch event featuring readings from student contributors and members of the Providence College community. The event offered an opportunity to hear selections from the new issue aloud, gather in celebration of student creativity, and recognize the ongoing legacy of the College’s literary journal.

The Alembic is the official literary journal of Providence College. Founded in 1920, it was the College’s first publication and has gone through many changes since its original run. Earlier issues served not only as a platform for student literary expression, but also as a yearbook and news service.
All volumes of The Alembic can be read and the past two volumes can be listened to on digitalcommons.providence.edu/thealembic. The 2025 edition can also be listened to on Apple and Spotify as podcasts, keep an eye out for the 2026 edition coming this summer!
The Alembic is published each spring by Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. The physical print two-year subscription rate in the United States is $15.
